PRO DIESEL – DEFECTIVE INJECTORS & RETALIATORY SILENCE
Update: This case summary has been expanded and clarified to more accurately reflect the documented facts already on record.
Originally published: September 2025
Despite receiving defective injectors returned over one year ago from its distributor,
Redat, on behalf of a small, Mid-Atlantic repair shop, Pro Diesel has refused to
communicate or provide resolution. This case reflects a documented pattern of
defective injectors followed by retaliatory silence.

Update: January 29, 2026 - This case summary has been expanded and clarified to more
accurately reflect the documented facts already on record.

SECTION 1: FULL CASE NARRATIVE (MASTER RECORD)
Pro Diesel is a Tennessee-based supplier of diesel engine components that publicly
promotes itself as one of the nation’s largest remanufacturers of diesel fuel injectors for
heavy equipment, on-road trucks, and smaller diesel engines.
A woman-owned diesel repair shop in the Mid-Atlantic region engaged Unscrewed to assist
in recovering approximately $8,000 in direct losses caused by defective Pro Diesel fuel
injectors supplied through Pro Diesel’s distributor, REDAT.
The shop purchased a full set of Pro Diesel injectors for a newly rebuilt Caterpillar C13
engine installed in a commercial tour bus. After only a few hundred miles of operation, the
engine developed a severe, deep knocking noise.
Diagnostic testing revealed no cylinder contribution change on Cylinder #6 and minimal
change on Cylinder #5, indicating injector malfunction rather than internal engine failure.
Several months prior, the same shop experienced two defective Pro Diesel injectors on a
separate heavy-truck engine. At that time, a Pro Diesel representative acknowledged the
defect and issued replacements, resolving the issue. This establishes prior knowledge and
capability to cure defects.
When the tour bus injector failures were identified, Pro Diesel refused to communicate
directly or through REDAT. All communication ceased following the earlier complaint.
An experienced Caterpillar engine builder and the shop’s master technician conducted a
complete engine teardown. No internal engine damage was found. The only fault identified
was defective injectors.
The injectors were returned through REDAT to Pro Diesel over one year ago. No response,
explanation, or resolution has been provided.

Replacement injectors from another supplier were installed. The engine has since operated
normally and returned to commercial service. The bus operator has returned with
additional engines for rebuild, confirming workmanship was not at issue.

SECTION 2: DAMAGES SUMMARY
- Approximately $8,000 in direct financial losses
- Full engine teardown and reassembly labor
- Commercial vehicle downtime
- Business interruption
- Financial hardship to a small, woman-owned business
This matter remains unresolved.
Pro Diesel’s continued silence will be interpreted as a refusal to address a documented
product failure and the resulting financial harm. If Pro Diesel elects not to engage promptly
and professionally, escalation will proceed accordingly.
At that point, recovery efforts will shift to all available remedies, including formal legal
action, where the cost of resolution will increase substantially.
The shop owner is prepared to pursue recovery to conclusion.
Unscrewed’s client is also seeking from Pro Diesel reimbursement of our agency’s fee of
25% of the amount due to the client.
